Teachers summer 2018

In order to promote a significant and long-lasting learning, the human side has become an essential part of the festival. That is why, the selection of each and every teacher is not only based on their profesional career, experience and knowledge, but also on the passion they are capable of expressing through their teaching and performing techniques. In that regard, we are proud to present the teaching team of the forth edition of the Numskull Brass Festival Caudete.

Zachary Bond

Trombone

He has been principal brass trombone of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and nowadays is professor of trombone at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and Thein Brass Instruments Artist. On 2009 Zachary performed together with Canadian Brass on the album ``Echo, Glory Of Gabrieli``. Read full curriculum:

Miguel García

Trombone

Having been member of some of the world's leading youth orchestras, nowadays Miguel is principal trombone of the Oper Frankfurt Orchestra (Germany). Read full curriculum:

Daniel Quiles

Trombone

Formed under the guidance of Jörgen van Rijen, Daniel is trombone player of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Academy (Netherlands) and trombone player of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (Belgium). Read full curriculum:

Javier Cantos

Trumpet

In 2017 Javier won the Second Prize of prestigious Lieksa International Trumpet Competition (Finland). Nowadays he is trumpet player of the Finnish National Opera Orchestra. He has been member of important youth orchestras such as Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival or the Spanish National Youth Orchestra and has collaborated with orchestras such as the Spanish National Orchestra, Orquesta del Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona, Spain) or Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. Javier Molina

French Horn

Nowadays he is french horn soloist of the Principado de Asturias Symphony Orchestra. Javier has played with such orchestras as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra Mozart, the BBC Manchester Philharmonic, the London Royal Philharmonic, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Lucerne Festival Alumni Orchestra, BandArt Orchestra, the Spanish National Orchestra, the Bilbao Sympnony Orchestra, the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra and the Ensemble intercontemporain, among others. He has worked with such conductors as Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Simon Rattle, Péter Eötvös, Simon Bychkov, Heinz Holliger, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Andris Nelsons and Vasily Petrenko, among others. Joaquín Díaz

Tuba and euphonium

He has been tuba soloist of the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra Academy (Milan, Italy) and worked with orchestras like the Zurich Symphony Orchestra and L’Orchestra del Teatro Regio (Turin, Italy). Nowadays, Joaquín is euphonium soloist of the Vitoria-Gasteiz Municipal Wind Band (Spain) and Adams Artist. Read full curriculum:

Ricardo Mollá

Trombone

He has been trombone soloist of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and is now trombone soloist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Courtois Artist. Ricardo is also a music composer, capturing a special predilection for the brass in his works. As a teacher, he gives lectures and masterclasses all around the world. Read full curriculum:

Mark Hampson

Trombone

Mark Hampson brass trombone of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra (Spain), the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and the World Master Orchestra, and has a vast experience as a teacher with a constant activity all around the world. Read full curriculum:

Juan Sanjuán

Trombone

He has collaborated with orchestras such as the French National Orchestra, Orquesta de Radio Televisión Española (Spain), Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (Spain), the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra (Germany) or the Baden-Baden Philharmonic (Germany). Yael Fiuza

Yael is trumpet player of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He has been member of important youth orchestras such as the Spanish National Youth Orchestra or Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, having collaborated with, among others, the Guatemala National Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Palau de les Arts (Valencia, Spain), Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (Germany), Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. Alberto Menéndez

French Horn

Nowadays he is the principal french horn of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Alberto has been member of the BBC Philharmonic, the Comunidad de Madrid Orchestra (Spain) and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. He plays as principal horn guest with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, London Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, Filarmonica alla Scala Milan, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and works with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, Bernard Haitink, Franz Welser-Möst, Gustavo Dudamel, Andris Nelsons, M.Tilson Thomas, John Eliot Gardiner, among others.
